Consultant General Surgeon
Mr Yuan Cheng graduated from the University of Melbourne Medical School in 2004 and has been a qualified specialist surgeon since 2015. He is a consultant general surgeon practising at ECBS with consultation rooms in Box Hill and East Melbourne.
Mr Cheng's expertise encompasses advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery across the full spectrum of general surgical conditions including gallbladder disease, hernia repair, upper gastrointestinal procedures and colorectal surgery. In addition to his Australian training, he completed additional fellowships alongside internationally recognised surgical teams in Europe.
Minimally invasive keyhole techniques for cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal), inguinal and incisional hernia repair, upper GI surgery with faster recovery times compared to traditional open procedures.
Specialist management of groin (inguinal) hernias, ventral/incisional hernias including recurrent cases using advanced laparoscopic mesh techniques. Expertise in both primary and complex repairs with low recurrence rates.
Surgical management of upper gastrointestinal conditions including anti-reflux procedures, hiatal hernia repair (Nissen fundoplication), oesophageal disorders requiring operative intervention. Trained in advanced techniques through European fellowships.
